Garrett and Amanda at the Beach
Unfortunately, Flickr only allows us so many slideshows at a time, unless we shuck out some coin. However, all our pics are still viewable on

Scuba Diving at Lake Rawlings

A few years back while on vacation in St. Thomas U.S.V.I. with my family, I went scuba diving at a resort. Needless to say after that I was hooked. As soon as I moved to Virginia Beach, VA I got my scuba dive certification through PADI. Unfortunately, I have not really had a chance to use it since then, but now the time has come to put it to good use. Garrett and I are going to the
Mayan Riviera (off the coast of Mexico) for our honeymoon. From what I hear there is great diving down there and we wanted to take full advantage of it. However, I didn't want to go by myself, so this past weekend Garrett also got his scuba certification.

To get his open water dives in we had to drive to a dive lake a few hours away. The lake actually used to be a rock quarry and was absolutely beautiful. (By the way, Yes Garrett did pass:))
The Birthday of My Life
If you've received the wedding invitation already, you may have noticed a line on there about "the birthday of our life". I know, it's cute. I was reading some poetry (crazy, huh?) in preparation to ask Amanda to marry me, and I came across this Christina Rossetti poem called "A Birthday". It goes like this.
My heart is like a singing bird
Whose nest is in a water'd shoot;
My heart is like an apple-tree
Whose boughs are bent with thickset fruit;
My heart is like a rainbow shell
That paddles in a halcyon sea;
My heart is gladder than all these
Because my love is come to me.
Raise me a dais of silk and down;
Hang it with vair and purple dyes;
Carve it in doves and pomegranates;
And peacocks with a hundred eyes;
Work it in gold and silver grapes,
In leaves and silver fleurs-de-lys;
Because the birthday of my life
Is come, my love is come to me.For those who haven't caught on, Amanda is the birthday of my life.
